The South Haven Area Water Sewer Authority is a four-community system — the City of South Haven together with Casco, South Haven and Covert townships. Its filtration plant on Water Street draws from Lake Michigan through an intake about a mile offshore. Step outside that service area and you are on a private well drawing from a completely different source. The two need different equipment.
